A Sprinter that shifts hard, gets stuck in one gear, or drops into transmission limp mode often has a failing conductor plate, the electronic module inside the automatic transmission that carries the shift solenoids and speed sensors. It is a common, well-understood fault, and replacing it usually restores normal shifting.

## What Is the Conductor Plate?

Inside the Sprinter automatic transmission sits a conductor plate, essentially the internal wiring and control layer that connects the shift solenoids and the internal speed sensors to the transmission computer. It manages how and when the gears change. When it degrades, the transmission loses the precise control it needs to shift smoothly.
Because it lives inside the transmission and includes the speed sensors, a failing conductor plate can produce a range of odd behaviors that look like a much bigger transmission problem than it actually is.

## What Are the Symptoms?

- Harsh or clunky shifts that used to be smooth
